The HeadMaster - Craig
My Story
I started racing motorcycles and go-carts in 1978, that's when I got the fever. I realized that it took more than just pistons, cam shafts, and headers to make good power. In high school I started working for a local race shop for a few years here in Houston and started traveling with them after finishing my senior year in 1983. While in college I decided that I really wanted to make racing my future. I started GTP in 1989 and haven't looked back.

Engine development is something I really enjoyed and I had a knack for. "I love the sound when you hear the engine screaming towards VE's that go over 100 percent on the dyno and the track!"

I excelled in the understanding of engine dynamics, fluid flow, and general aerodynamic principles. Building nationally competitive cylinder heads and manifolds, drives GTP to provide the best for our customers. In 2004 we moved to our new shop, which is centrally located in Houston, for ease of access. In 2008 we decided it was time to bring GTP into the future and purchased a Haas 5 axis CNC machine to help produce high precision cylinder heads in large volumes. With the help of our Faro Arm, Solidworks, Dezignworks, Micro Estimating, and GibbsCam we now have the ability to duplicate and produce anything the customer would need.

In addition to all of the USA manufactured cylinder heads, we are developing and producing cylinder heads in the diesel market, the Asian market and believe it or not, the exotic Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche engines. Recently even a few experimental aircraft cylinder heads have proven to be quite satisfying to the customer.

We are quietly working on improving our market share and building higher precision parts. Quality control is our number one goal.

Our Development in the 5.7/6.1 Hemi field started in 2005 with a couple of nationally ranked shops. We quickly rose to the top of our field with the proper development of our head and cam packages. Our comps are the fasted and quickest cars in the country. We are making the move from a behind the scenes “wholesale” operation to a more consumer oriented, face to face shop. Our philosophy is a bit different than most. We search out velocity before the maximum CFM. We are not a “on the shelf” performance shop. We are continuing to push the limits of the late model Hemi after a very solid base in the original 5.7/6.1 Heads. We are focusing on the future of the Hemi Market with the Eagle 5.7 heads. Our professional opinion still sees the 5.7/6.1 original castings are an unfinished canvas, with the whole industry being only 75% done with the evolution of the porting/polishing of the head. It is truly in its infancy. We understand what it takes to make a Hemi head work, and although by law I can’t disclose our vendors the trail of cylinder heads being ported points back to us, right here in Houston Texas. We are really looking forward to being a continuing part of the performance world surrounding this platform.

Craig Gallant, owner of GTP has a very long history in the automotive performance industry, dating back to the early 1980’s.

Texas Greyrock Racing 1982-1983. Apprentice mechanic specializing in suspension tech and pit chief in a nationally recognized road race company. Competed at the national level of racing.

Northwest Racing Engines 1984-1985. Cylinder Head development from street cars to road race vehicles in large volume based out of Houston TX.

Texas Turbo 1986-1988. Specializing in turbocharged V6/V8/V10 in every format. Built numerous head/manifold combinations for high powered street and strip cars to full on exhibition vehicles. Did extensive flow bench work for high boost and high efficiency turbo systems.

Nickens Brothers Racing 1988-1992. Built national level competition eliminator and super stock cylinder heads and sheet metal intakes as well as designing cast intakes for race engine development. Many national titles were set and reset by the development over which he was in charge.

Gallant Technical Performance 1992 - Current. Continuing the development of late model street and racing cylinder heads under his own roof Craig continued with his work in comp eliminator/ super stock and top sportsman development and production. Everything from small block Ford to Lamborghini V10 done in house by hand. Major contenders in the Early LS1 Chevrolet days. GTP LS1 heads are still highly prized. With the advent of our 5-Axis Haas CNC machine in early 2008 we are now able to greatly speed up the custom order cylinder head of your dreams. All cylinder heads are still hand ported and finished, but the bulk of material removal has been carefully digitized to speed it up. Your custom ordered cylinder heads are completed in about one week!

We will be offering the standard Stage One, Stage Two and Stage Three levels of cylinder heads for the 5.7/6.1 line, along with about 20 different camshafts for them. Custom Cam’s will be no cost and neither will stroker cams. Were getting all suited up with our website under redesign and introductory pricing for our entry onto LX forums.

Thanks,
The Gallant Technical Performance Team.
